Our history We’re proud of the journey we’ve been on, and we’re excited to keep planting for the future. Here’s the Vertis story. 1 The beginning - 2003 It started with the seed of an idea: what can we do about the shortage of classrooms across the country? Determined to solve a real problem many schools face, our family design and manufacturing business started extensive research and development of modular construction methods and SIPs (Structural insulated panels). We did some work on small school buildings, but at this time we really focused on and learned through domestic studio jobs, where we could hone our construction methodologies and the management of innovative materials. 2 Our first School Building - 2014 The seed took root: inspired by a vision of helping schools create better classrooms, our Managing Director Craig Riley founded the company Green Modular and designed his first school building using SIP panels. From here we progressed into more ambitious, full-size classroom buildings. Having perfected the modular methodologies, we could now manage projects on a much larger scale. 3 Burundi School Food Programme - 2017 Our vision is global – we want to serve schools and young people wherever we can. In July 2017, Green Modular began funding two meals a day, a mid-morning breakfast and lunch, for 700 East African children every school day all year-round. We were glad to donate over £50,000 to support a vital cause. 4 Vertis Buildings - 2021 The world changed and so did we. The pandemic brought huge problems for schools and the need for modern classrooms became more important than ever. Green Modular was closed and from it Vertis Buildings was born – founded to focus on crafting beautiful school buildings. Now all of our modular buildings for schools and commercial outdoor buildings are designed from our base in rural Bedfordshire, manufactured in Suffolk and pre-fabricated and assembled on site. 5 National Trust Tree Planting - 2021 Our passion is for quality and innovation that works with the environment and not against it. We always make it our aim to produce materials that are built to last and are sustainable. For every completed school building, we will donate a 500 square metre woodland to the National Trust Plant a Tree campaign. 6 Cutting Edge School Buildings - Present Day We’ve been busy since that first classroom design – it’s been amazing to see what has grown from the seed of an idea years ago. The tangible effect Vertis buildings have had on teachers and young people in schools is what drives us forward. Today, Vertis promises a simple modular construction process for beautiful, sustainable school buildings. We specialise in building single and double classrooms that teachers and students love – and we do it all in just a few weeks. We’re experts in construction for educators – we’ve built over a hundred modular school buildings so far. We understand the needs and challenges teachers face, and we know how vital an educational space is for young people. We’re proud of the journey we’ve been on, and we’re excited for the future.
